I am a the first member of my family to go to college and originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico. While at UCSC I majored in Computer Engineering as an undergrad and in Electrical Engineering as a graduate student. Currently, I am a Manager in the Networking and Storage sector of the Patent Analysis group at RPX corporation, responsible for assessing and analyzing patent portfolios from a technical perspective. Prior to RPX, I worked as a Senior Engineer at Lockheed Martin on projects that included prototyping network technologies for a satellite based communication network, developing a web-based auditing system, and managing the network and software infrastructure for a satellite telemetry facility. I also have previous experience working on nanowire transistor development and fabrication at NASA Ames.

As one of the founders of UCSC SHPE, the goal was to create a student organization that provided a place for students to have a sense of community and create networking opportunities, in order to help the students navigate and succeed in their engineering majors. SHPE not only gave me that sense of community at SoE, but it also allowed for the development of technical, communication and leaderships skills that I still use today in my career. The local and national chapter events gave me the opportunity to develop these skills and gave me experience in leadership roles that other wise were not available, without these skills it would be much harder to stay competitive in the technology field. SHPE allowed me to build my self confidence and become a more well rounded engineer, something that engineering classes alone can not do.
