  Want to help MEP spring into spring quarter

There are openings for 1-2 MEP Center student assistant positions for spring 2008. However, there is also a strong possibility that selected students may have the opportunity to continue employment into summer and/or fall quarters (if available and interested). Seeking talented students with good organizational skills who are in good academic standing, dependable and hard working. Skills Knowledge and Abilities Required:

• Comprehensive knowledge of MEP services sufficient to perform a variety of duties related to the mission and goals of MEP.
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures from both verbal and written sources.
• Proficient computing skills with working knowledge of database systems and spreadsheets (MS Office, Excel, Access, or comparable computer applications).
• Demonstrate excellent judgment and discretion, particularly with sensitive and confidential matters.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse groups and individuals at various levels within the campus and BSoE academic community.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills to produce clear, concise, and grammatically correct correspondence, spreadsheets and reports.
• Demonstrated experience exhibiting good organizational skills; detail-oriented ability to complete data entry and recordkeeping tasks accurately.
• Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to diverse racial, ethnic and low socioeconomic student groups.
• Demonstrate professional work attitude, initiative and leadership ability sufficient to work independently as well as a team member.
• Good academic standing; enrolled as BSoE major and current active member of MEP is a plus.

Skill Preferred:

• Familiarity with a variety of computing formats and technologies.
• Knowledge of MEP services and experience as a member with ability to maintain information in an effective manner for the MEP community; and/or experience or familiarity with retention or outreach programs.
